Ladies First Team - “We are the Champions!”

Our ladies First team took on a very strong Winchester Flyers Res team today. We won both games in the double header, thus taking 6 points and and are now the 2020/21 league champions. Both games finished 3-1 to the purps.

The first game saw goals from Alisha B, Krystal W and Maia G.

The second game saw goals from Alisha B Krystal W and Madi P.

Congratulations to all the girls, the coaching staff and everyone involved within our girls and ladies set up.

AFC Stoneham Development team took the short trip to Southampton University today for a double header which turned out to be 2 very hard fought games.

The first game was a relatively even affair with the Purps looking the most dangerous in the final third. Wictoria W was the only goal scorer but was enough to secure the 3 points.

The second was another hard graft especially after going a goal behind. The equaliser came from Wictoria W and in the dying minutes up popped Leah W (suffering from tonsillitis) scored the winner.

Another superb day for ladies football at AFC Stoneham and hopefully next weekend both our U18s and Ladies Development squad will complete a fantastic hat trick of championships for our ladies teams!

Sunday Update - 13th June 2021

Under 9 Royals

The Under 9 Royals bounced back from last week, with a masterclass performance in hot conditions and remembering our defensive drills from training.

Good passing and strong situational awareness gave us the goals deserved. Marcus with a hat trick. Zain, Tuula, Archie with one each.

The whole team got purp of the match today! Well done.

Under 10 Panthers

Panthers put in an excellent display today in the intense heat today. Great counter attacking play allied with some solid defensive work led to some great chances being created. Ablaye and Jacob with our goals today. Player of the day was Ablaye with special mentions to Tyler and James for excellent battling performances. Well done Panthers

Under 10 Lions

Great result today! Goals from Henry x2, Maisie x3, Olly, Fin & Tadleigh. MOTM Whole Team, brilliant performances all around the pitch

U13 Panthers

Panthers battled to a 6-5 win over a resilient Hythe & Dibden team. The boys went behind very much against the run of play in the first half, but responded to take a 3-1 lead. Defensive issues however lead to the boys coming in at half time with the score 3-3.

During second half the boys were again on top, and added another two goals, and having a further two questionably ruled out to lead 5-3. Again the boys seemed to sleep walk and Hythe scored two quick goals to once again level. The winner came directly from a Will Hosmer corner to lead 6-5 and eventually seal the game. Goal scores were Will Hosmer x3, Brad Chirima, Max Edwards & Kunashe Musonza. Man of the Match was Max Edwards who again was superb in midfield.

Under 15 Galaxy

Galaxy's run of form continued this morning with their performance of the season as they proved too hot to handle for Romsey Youth.

The game finished 14-0 with the scorers: Boyd Mackenzie (6), Will Alexis (3), Ryan Dennis (2), Daniel Beggs (2), and Reece Miller (1).

Up the Purps!

Saturday Update - 12th June 2021

On a day when the incident involving Christian Eriksen illustrates how precious life is and that football is only a game to enjoy. Our Saturday round up follows below:

Under 7 Wolves

Wolves started well and generally dictated the game from the off in what ended up a competitive encounter between the two.

A fantastic control and finish from Caleb got the wolves off to a good start. Then a poor pass was punished against us. Then a fine Team goal put us in control. Then Adriano for the Spitfires with a wonderful solo goal.

Making it level until another fine team goal added by some special play from Chase. Getting our noses in front and we thoroughly deserved it on the balance of play. A special mention to Alfie Bungay who was exceptional for the Spitfires in defence. But our MOM went to 2 players so a big well done to Lucas and Chase.

U7 Spitfires

AFC Stoneham Derby part 2 for the U7 Spitfires today against our very own Wolves. Cracking game that was end to end where both teams matched each other and to be honest never wanted the match to end.

Spitfires played some great football and deserved at least a draw today but so proud of every one of the players. Brody Hibberd continued his hot steak in front of goal and Adriano Philip turned into Messi with a dazzling run from his own half that end with a goal.

Any player could of took the POM trophy today but Adriano Philip took the award for a great solo effort and all round play. Well played Spitfires and Wolves for a great game.

Under 7 Panthers

Today’s game was a very hard game. They really come at us the first quarter and the boys stuck in brilliantly, then we started to push and push with our energy.

We soon started dominating the ball. Ollie pulled off some good saves in goal with Lucas defending brilliantly, even got a ball in his face and that didn’t put him off. Harry’s work rate off the ball was really good with some important defending tackles from midfield as we left ourselves exposed at the back too many times and also gut on the score sheet.

Oliver huffed and puffed and battled throughout and was rewarded with a goal after a determined run. Jenson as always provided the goals we needed with 6 well taken goals and was brilliant all over the pitch. Aryan and Alessandro got stuck in and tackled well when needed.

But my man of the match was James today. He was our human wall and gave everything including some very important last ditch tackles. Well done James well done all of you, two more games to go

Under 7 Jaguars

Another very good game today, the boys are improving every match. The passing and communication today was outstanding and some very good goals.

Goals from Macca (2), Sam Purchase (2), and Louis Purchase (1).

POTD: Louis Purchase. This player improves every game and gives 100% to the team. He has nearly scored a goal in every game he has played and today he finally got his goal. The most improved player this season and the fact he turns up every week smiling is also a plus.

Under 7 Hurricanes

The Hurricanes game was definitely a strange spectacle this week. We were trailing early on and found our self down by a considerable amount by the end of the first half. The players don't lose concentration and continued to battle for everything, eventually in the final quarter all the hard work paid off!

The team completely dominated, with Zachary scoring and brace and Harry also netting one. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough but a huge turn around and some very good football being played all over the pitch. Sam was out POTM with some very strong tackles and a high work rate. Great game to watch, up the Purps!

Under 7 United

An even contest between both sides who played the game in good spirits throughout. Our goal scorers were Harry W, Archie, Alfie scoring a brace and Cooper scoring a great first goal in purps colours which was great to see.

The boys worked really hard in warm conditions and only 6 players available today so well done to all for trying their best and great to see some good passing moves like we have been working on in training.

Under 10 Panthers Girls

Today the girls faced a very strong well organised Portchester side. After a first half that finished 0-0 with the highlights being some great link up play between Lucy,Erin and Meme and a fantastically saved free kick taken by Lucy.

The girls continued the high press and good link up play through the 2nd period and managed to get an early lead from Meme’s Corner with Lucy slotting home in the corner. We then had to dig deep and defend hard together and faced A barrage of attacking play from Portchester. Then after a fantastic save from the Portchester keeper a penalty was awarded for a handball. Up stepped Meme Walters to bury home with enough power to beat the keepers fingers.

2-0 the final score and each and everyone of the girls can be very proud of their performance today. Managers player of the day was Izzy for fantastic defensive play and blocking a certain equaliser. Oppositions player of the day was Lucy, after another solid display in centre midfield

Under 13 Girls

AFC Stoneham 1 - 0 New Milton

It was a well earned 1-0 win for the girls today as they hosted New Milton at home for our final game of the season.

We made hard work for ourselves in the first half, inviting New Milton to the ball first and mis-reading the bounce, although played some beautiful football at times.

The second half saw a completely different side who dominated the game, and we lived in the New Milton half of the pitch creating chance after chance. It was a 45' corner, floated in by Ella and headed home by Eva which clinched the 3 points and a well deserved team win today.

Special mentions to Jorja and Maddie who both stepped up their game today and worked tirelessly in the heat. Also to Phoebe J and Phoebe P who shared the GK role!

All-round fabulous 2nd half performance from everyone, WELL DONE!

Managers POTM: Jorja & Maddie

Supporters POTM: Phoebe J

Oppositions POTM: Lexie

Under 14 Girls

AFC Stoneham U14 girls played Pompey ITC in the last game of the season!

The game was end to end with some outstanding defensive performances from both sides.

Pompey took the lead in the first half, and the girls came off one nil down. In the second half the girls finally broke through Pompey’s great defence with a goal to level up the score.

The girls grew in confidence in front of goal and scored a further 3. Making the the final score 4-1 to AFC Stoneham. Some fantastic performances from both sides and a great way to end the season before we start our new exciting JPL journey.

Up the Purps!

Sunday Update - 6th June 2021

U9 Panthers

The Under 9 Panthers put in an exceptional performance today. Of course it was very hot, so a huge effort from the players! Some excellent play, remembering what we have worked on in training recently. Goals from Millie (x3) and Charlie (x2). POTW was Millie for her excellent goals, brilliant assist attempts and fantastic passing down the line. Well done Panthers!

U9 Spitfires

Under 9 Spitfires put in a fantastic performance once again. We were up against Salisbury who are a very strong and good footballing team. Both teams battled from start to finish and played some slick and classy passing moves. Coaching staff from both teams stood back and watched both teams enjoying moving the ball around the pitch. Two goals from Bushy and one for Jenson just wasn’t enough as Salisbury came out on top by one.

The whole team played their socks off especially as we had no subs!!!

U10 Panthers, in lieu of a league game this weekend, played a friendly today against our u11 Spitfires. This was the boys first 9v9 game as they make that move next season, and the boys put in a great display, providing some competitive football against a well drilled, skilled and organised Spitfires. Final score was 4-2 to the u11 Spitfires, with Oliver and Ablaye netting for the Panthers. Well done Panthers on a battling display today, and also a big thank you to Kev and the u11 Spitfires for giving us a game today, and demonstrating the willingness within the club to help and develop teams and players across the age groups ⚽️⚽️⚽️

U10 Tigers

Great performance from the U10 Tigers squad today. We created chance after chance and played some exciting football, quick in transition and dominant in the attacking third. 5 different goal scorers, including two hat-tricks from two wingers. Proud of how adaptable our players were today, with new positions/roles being played by many and great attitude by all.

GK Jack Binns was outstanding, adding 2 assists to another strong performance between the sticks.

Goal Scorers: Mustapha Suso, Louis Howard, Spencer Winter, Vinnie Hamstead, and Dominik Veal.

POTM: Mustapha Suso

U10 Jaguars

Jags had another convincing win today. The lads were at it from the off with Freddy scoring early on twice with his left foot. Daniel then chipped in with the scoring with a lovely low finish. Harry scored next with a long range free kick going in the top corner . Finley the cat was on fine form this afternoon making some acrobatic saves throughout the game. Harry soon had his second goal and Jamie also scored late on. Freddy completed the game with a rocket to get his hatrick. Motm was Daniel with his goal and assists.

U13 Wolves

Today we hosted a friendly, with the new challenges for the boys on the horizon we set ourselves the challenge and invited hiltingbury hawks currently sat 2 division above, boys started fantastic, great positive attitude which showed in their performance. Great discipline, great shape and great football. Boys looked very comfortable out their today and all their hard work paid off. Excellent plays saw the boys go in 3 nil up at half time. Boys continued the second half the same with a great strike from hiltingbury no.9 got them a goal back which could have unsettled the boys however boys stayed strong and organised got themselves another 2 goals, the game was fantastic to watch and the boys done themselves proud today seeing the game out as a 6 - 2 victory.

Goals came from Leyton and Floyd but no motm today as the whole team was fantastic.

Well done Wolves.

U15 Galaxy

Galaxy enjoyed themselves this afternoon putting in one of their better performances as they ran out 5-1 winners away at Hamble Youth.

Yet again Boyd Mackenzie, with his 3rd hatrick in 4 games, and Keiran Kandiah were on the score sheet.

Daniel Beggs also weighed in with a well taken header.

Ladies

This is first team against shanklin

" Battle on the Island".

The 1st of today's double headers saw the Purps take the 3 points with an outstanding free kick from Alisha B.

The hosts equalised with a free header from their 6ft plus midfielder . The 2nd half was a frustrating with Kaylee B striking a post and minutes later crashed a shot against the underside of the bar.

With the Purps gaining momentum a cut back saw Maddison P score a put Stoneham back in front. Six minutes later the game was done as Maddison P grabbed a brace and Stonehams 3rd..

The 2nd game was rather disappointing after Shanklin took the lead from a penalty after Katie P's made minimal contact.

Stoneham huffed and puffed looking for the equaliser but with only 1 outfield sub legs started to look a bit weary. The hosts were content to hold the 1-0 .

The game unfortunately became our 1st defeat of the season.

Lessons learnt and we go again next Sunday.

Development squad

A tough game for our development team after coming away with 1 point from a 2-2 draw against Gosport Borough Ladies. The purps opened the game with Abi V scoring a great goal putting Stoneham 1-0 up.

Into the second half the purps gave away two goals in 5 mins meaning Gosport took the lead. Stoneham fought hard and were awarded with a penalty which was then brilliantly saved by the keeper. Stoneham finally found the net with 15 minutes to go when Maia G scored. Stoneham had a very good shout for a pen for handball but the ref waived the appeals away, keeping the game level with a 2-2 draw.

Well done to all of our teams!

Sunday Update - 16th May 2021

SUPER SUNDAY ROUND UP

Under 9 Spitfires were up against a tough and well organised Salisbury today. It was an end to end match with both teams showing their ability. Both keepers were kept busy and made a string of good saves. There were moments of good play all over the pitch, but unfortunately the boys finished second by a one goal margin. Goals for us today were, Freddie 1, Bushy 1, Adam 1 and Charlie 2.

MOM went to Josh in goal.

U9 Panthers

A massive performance today from the Under 9 Panthers! With only 7 players (no subs!), we controlled the game today. A fantastic second half saw us thrive on the ball and score some great goals. Goals from Stephen, Millie and Will (x3).

POTW went to everyone; Jamie for his excellent concentration and saves, Lloyd for some brilliant interceptions, Stephen for playing in an unfamiliar position so well, Blaise for her constant hard work, Henry for his command of the midfield, Millie for her exceptional communication & passing, and Will for his excellent hat-trick. Well done Panthers!

U10 Panthers battled hard in the rain today, with a great performance against an organised and skilful St Francis team. Following on from a great friendly display mid week, the team continue to build on the hard work they put in to training with excellent displays in all positions. Ablaye, Jacob and Eddie with the goals today. Players of the day were Ablaye and Thierno, with special mentions to Theo Craggs for some great goalkeeping when needed, and Josh Jervis for really taking control and organising the defence and midfield at times. Well done Panthers

U11 Panthers

The Under 11 Panthers put in a decent performance, something the pros would call ‘winning ugly’. Technically we were good today, just a little slow to start. Goals from Alfie, Harry-James and Ethan C (x4). MOTM was Ethan C for his amazing creativity and goals.

U13 Royals

A good 7-0 win for the Royals today. Goals from Bailey Middleton x2, Daniel Wrycraft x2, Harry Noel, Ollie Brading, and Fin Hibberd. They all showed great spirit and team work through out the whole game. Redbridge were left with only 10 players at half time and there was some great sportsmanship from the Royals as we had a couple of players play for them to even out the numbers. No player of the match as there were so many positives from everyone.

Galaxy U15

Galaxy didn't let the weather dampen their spirits today as they ran out 9-0 winners against Botley in the pouring rain.

The goal scorers this morning were

Boyd Mackenzie with a hat trick

and a goal a piece for

Tom Clarke

Daniel Beggs

Oliver Lucy

Keiran Kandiah

Ryan Dennis

with an own goal completing the stats.

Up the Purps

Ladies

First team

Goals galore in a double header against Alton Town. First game saw AFC Stoneham start on top with a goal in the first minute, it continued that way with a relentless Stoneham onslaught resulting in Stoneham scoring another 10 goals. End result 11-1 with goals from Alisha B x3 Kaylee B x3 Madi P x3 and Chloe A x2.

The second game started as a much closer contest but nevertheless AFC Stoneham continued to ravage the Alton goal only to find the home keeper pulling off save after save. The purps finally found their way through and the goals began to flow again with Stoneham running out easy victors again winning the game 10-1 with goals from Alisha B x4 Kaylee B x3 Madi P x2 and Chloe S.

Development team

A very tough game for our development side today against Gosport Borough Ladies, the girls started very slow but managed to get into the game in the second half claiming a well deserved 3 points winning the game 3-1. Goals from Wicky W x2 and Leah W

Finally most will know of the rapid growth and development of female football at our club which will continue to progress even further very soon.

Big shout out today to the five U18’s , three of who are only 16, playing in our first team who not only put in outstanding performances but three of them provided 13 goals between them!

The future is bright !!!

Saturday Update - 15th May 2021

Todays U7 and Girls Round up

U7 Spitfires

Excellent performance from the U7 Spitfires today in a game that was robust and had plenty of Drama! Every week brings an improvement in passing and moving and working as a team in defensive situations. The result wasn’t what we deserved but the team can be proud of their performance and on another day the result could’ve been very different. Brody Hibberd & Elliott Finch were deadly in front of goal. Player of the day could have gone to anyone, in the end it went to Harvey Whyte for his tireless work ethic at both ends of the pitch.

U7 Stoneham United v Hiltingbury Hurricanes

We started the game very slowly today and fell behind with some quick fire goals. Harry W made some fantastic saves to keep it respectable.

In the 2/3rd quarters it was a very even game with some good listening and work ethic throughout the side.

A special mention to William who scored a great 1st goal for United which was pleasing for all to see, we are made up for him. On the back of his goal and good positional play he deserved Purp of the match today. Our other goal was scored by Archie/build up play with Tayo.

AFC Stoneham Wolves U7

We played against the team of the age group who has set the measuring stick for us all.

So a massive credit to Oakwood for that. Lot's to develop and work on which at this age group you'd expect. Some decent spells in the game from the Team. A fantastic display from Lucas in goal who pulled off some worldies. Reggie for his never ending running. Tom defensively was up against a very strong team and he blocked and tackled to the max!

We do it as a team and look forward to the next Game!

U7 Stoneham Jaguars

Hard game today and the boys gave their best, need to work on our listening skills and the rest will come.

Goals

Macca 2

Sam Purchase

Potd

Louis Purchase great effort today and nearly scored

Panthers U7

What a win boys! I am starting to sound like a broken record, but we just seem to be playing like a team now. The number of passes between each other is getting better and better each week. Alessandro done well in goal with some good saves. Again James and Lucas was solid at the back with Lucas scoring a thunder-strike from just past the halfway line. Harry was excellent with some good passing and scoring 3 times. Oliver was again all over the pitch and got his rewards with a goal. Aaryan gave good work rate. Jenson was again at the heart of the dribbling and scoring, and got 4 goals. But my Man of the Match was Ollie, his work rate and shooting was brilliant. Well done Ollie. Proud of the boys today. Final Score x v x

U18 Girls

A comfortable afternoon for our super U18 girls who ran out 6-0 winners at home to Winchester City. The only sour note was going down to 10 players after Layla C limped off but the girls still managed to score twice after going down to 10. With goals from Jess T, Madi P, Libby S, Kaylee B x2 and Chloe A.

U13s Girls

The U13 girls were hosts to Mudeford today and despite dominating another game, fell victim to a 2-1 defeat.

It was a scrappy first half from both sides, but we were quick to take the lead 2 minutes into the 2nd half through an Annabel header. Despite creating plenty more chances to lead the game more comfortably, we could only find the keepers' hands. Despite an equaliser on 47', the girls kept the pressure on, with Tanesha working tirelessly in the middle to shut down Mudeford play. Lexie turned the defence inside out all game and gave us hope to retake the lead before her powerful shot heading for the bottom left corner was tipped around the post. Mudeford broke late and stole the game 3' from time; an undeserved defeat but we just didn't take our chances. It was that simple.

Managers POM: Lexie & Tanesha

Supporters POM: Annabel

Oppositions POM: Ailish

Sunday Update - 9th May 2021

SUNDAY ROUND UP

U9 Royals had a slow start to their match but picked up pace and energy as the game went on. The defence was again solid with Harrison again stepping up into goal, Noah and Owen picking up the few attacks that got through and allowed our team to push forward. The midfield battle was tough and our team stood up to some forceful challenges, with Nate finding invisible paths through 3 tackles. Marcus played in some decisive balls setting up Tuula, Jake. Purps of the match go to Tuula and Jake for making space and superb finishing. Well done Royals !

The Under 9 Panthers put in a very solid performance today against tough opposition. Some great passing play and creative runs saw us score some brilliant goals. A huge amount of effort was shown by everyone involved which payed off in the end. Goals from Henry (x2) and Stephen (x2). POTW was Henry for his excellent goals, passing and overall effort. Well done Panthers!

Under 9 Spitfires continue to march on. The boys were up against it today as they played a very good Pace side. The game started quickly and the class from both teams stood out. The spitfires dug in and found themselves 1 by an unlucky OG. Josh was strong in goal, defenders Joey, Adam and Jenson put in a solid shift. The caretaker in midfield AKA Forbes swept everything up. Fred’s and Bushy terrorised the defence out wide and Charlie worked his socks off up top. Bushy hit a brace including a free kick from the halfway line!! Freddie found the net once. Great team performance which saw all the boys collect MOM for the 3rd week running!!

U10 Royals

Played one out best games of the season today, the whole team put a great shift in for the whole game,

Some lovely attacking moves today from Mally who scored 2 goals today unlucky not to get more and a goal from Ben who also provided an assist.

Motm was Mally

Well done Royals

U10 Tigers

Following a very challenging fixture against Littleton, the Under 10 Tigers managed to put in a really hard-fought performance. Whilst goalkeeper Jack Binns made some superb saves at one end, goals from Mustapha Suso, Kristof Hollosy (x2) and Louis Howard ensured the boys were rewarded for their efforts.

The performance is a testament to the team's resilience and continued belief - Louis Howard picked up MOTM for an overall outstanding attacking and defensive display.

The Under 11 Panthers had a tricky game today but did show glimpses of brilliance. Some incredibly good passing play, along with strong and powerful runs, lead to some fantastic goals. Goals today from Ethan C (x2). MOTM was Sam for his brilliant runs and amazing effort throughout. Well done lads.

U11 Spitfires got a good 1-0 win away to Littleton. The effects from yesterday’s game against AFC Bournemouth Youth Talent Centre had took its toll as energy levels not quite as high as normal but a superb team effort from all the boys got them the win. Superb defending when required and a cracking save from Miles towards the end (although was the only save he made but reliable as always). Goal scored by Oliver Drew wiv a looping lob from outside the box. POM went to Charlie Gray who was excellent and even got complimented by our opposition manager.

U13 Royals

After a disappointing result last Sunday, the Royals had the opportunity to have another go against Totton in the home leg. A positive start saw us quickly go 2-0 up and we’re 3-1 at half time. After a few position changes from us and a change of pace from Totton we found ourselves at 3-3. We managed to regain our shape and composure and went on to seal the victory with 65th minute goal that trickled over the line.

Goal scorers were Bailey Middleton x2, Daniel Wrycraft and Harry Noel.

MOM went to Danny Logan at CB, Danny didn’t let one the leagues top goal scorers get a sniff of the ball.

U13 Panthers earned a dominant 4-0 victory against Netley Royals. During the first half, the boys had great shape and produced some great combinations in play, and made a breakthrough after Max Edwards was released to open the scoring. Shortly afterwards Brad Chirima scored his first of the afternoon following a brilliant team move. The same direction of play continued during the second half, and Brad added another goal, and eventually Will Hosmer was released to score the final goal of the game. The boys voted Aaron Loader and Kunashe Musonza as players of the game. Aaron for his solid work in defence, and Kunashe for running Netley ragged in midfield.

U13 Knights completed their last Tyro fixture with an away defeat to Hamble Spitfires. At the end of the first half we were 1-0 down having conceded a penalty. The final result was a 6-0 loss. MOM was Ben. Despite a difficult set of fixtures post the most recent lockdown we are pleased to be guaranteed 3rd in the Tyro Division 1.

U14 Spitfires had a frustrating game where nothing seemed to click against St Francis Rangers who have just won our league wiv a 100% record. We created chances but just couldn’t find the back of the net in our 1st game we have failed to score in all season. POM went to Jack Polkinghorne who was excellent all over the pitch and never gave fighting for every ball. We go again in 2 weeks when we could finish 2nd with a win in what has been a good season.

Under 14 United took on a well organised and hungry Worrhys side who were playing their last game looking for a win. With our boys looking to keep their unbeaten season in tacked they found it hard to shake off off the persistent pressure worthys put them under, but with great grit, determination and togetherness they won the game 2-1 with goals from George s and Aaron c.

Ladies Development

Another 6 points bagged as our Ladies Development won both games in a double header at Bursledon Ladies Reserves.

The Purps took the first game 5-2 with goals from Leah W x 2, Katie S x 1, Wicky W (pen) and Kayden W.

The second game was a more even game with the Purps finally running out 3-1 winners. Goals from Leah W x 2, Katie S x 1

Well done to all of our teams on another superb set of results. !

Saturday Update - 8th May 2021

Under 7 United

The first quarter was an even match up where both sides played some great football with some good battles and ended level. A good goal from Tayo using the zip of the wet surface scoring our goal.

The boys battled hard until the end in a tough match with Tayo scoring a further goal in the latter stages. Purp of the match was Archie for doing well in goal, good listening and dribbling. We go again next week.

Under 7 Spitfires

The U7 Spitfires played the best they have for some time and a great team effort got a result they thoroughly deserved. Elliott Finch & Cody Walters were deadly in front of goal wiv the latter making some important saves when in goal. POM went to Theo Yaldren who was fantastic, our pocket rocket! Really proud of all the boys today as everyone played so well.

Under 7 Wolves

Against a very good Pace team. We really struggled early on in the game with the passing and movement of the opposition. We had to show heart and fight. In spells, there was some good play that came from Harry who picked out some lovely passes! Also, Lucas for some good hold up play and laid the ball off nicely. Credit to the opposition for their performance.

Under 7 Jaguars

Very good game today against a strong team. We played some good football and a great goal from Mason Russell who ran the who half of the pitch to smash it in. Charlie Macca got a hat trick and didn’t stop running to try and get more.he created 2 more good chance but they went just wide. Special mention to Sam Purchase who turned up injured but still put in 100%,

POTD goes to Raif Clegg who didn’t stop running and made some really good tackles today.

Well done boys!

Under 7 Panthers

I thought this would be a hard game today and it didn’t disappoint. They were a very strong and physical team and had some good players, but thoroughly deserved the win today. Oliver produced some excellent saves in goal. James and Lucas in defence the was tested today and passed with flying colours. Lucas also got on the score sheet. Alessandro and Aaryan got stuck in tackling with some good kicking. Ollie scored 3 excellent goals, with one of them being his first touch after a substitution.

Jenson was brilliant today and scored 4 great goals. There was also a fortunate OG. But my man of the match today was Harry. His confidence is growing week by week and scored his first goal of the season. Well done Harry.

Very proud of the boys again.

Under 13 Girls

The U13 girls put on an excellent thorough team performance today, away to Pace Youth. We installed a positive attitude from arrival, which the girls continued to instil in each other on the pitch, and it shone through in their football. Much more calm and composed on the ball despite the conditions, especially from Maddison who went above and beyond today against her former club.

Every player stepped up today, with extra recognition to Lexie and Tanesha. We forced several great saves from the Pace keeper, with Ailish & Eva also finding the woodwork, but goals finally came from Ella and Annabel to seal the 2-0 win. Well done girls!

Managers POM: Maddison

Oppositions POM: Ella

Well done on some awesome performances!

AFC Stoneham U11 vs AFC Bournemouth U11

As we develop our relationship with professional clubs further, to support our young player’s development, our U11s travelled to AFC Bournemouth today with our U12s playing next week.

Below is today's match report:

AFC Bournemouth Youth Talent Centre vs AFC Stoneham U11’s

Our U11s had the opportunity to take a team down to AFC Bournemouth and play against their youth talent team. We played 4 games of 20 minutes and got stronger as the games went on. Every player put a shift in and played some great football against a very talented team. The 1st game was a reality check as although we knew they would be good we were not sure how good but we soon found out.

We regrouped and 2nd game matched them from start to finish and ending up losing a very close game with goals from Ethan Cripp & Tom Dunn.

3rd game was similar to the 2nd and we matched them again but lost 3–1 with our goal being scored by Ethan Cripp. Going into the last game we had a patched-up team as the intensity of the games took its toll and just managed to get 9 players on the pitch but another superb effort by all the boys who ending losing very narrowly.

I cannot say how proud I am of all the 14 boys who played as they are a huge credit to both AFC Stoneham and their parents with each boy conducting themselves so well and certainly never looked out of place against a very good side.

I would like to thank AFC Bournemouth for this opportunity as it was a great experience for the manager, players and parents alike.

Sunday Update - 2nd May 2021

Under 9 Spitfires

Another great team performance by the under 9 Spitfires. The best way to describe the team is, 8 best mates playing the game they love together.

Another all round solid team performance which consisted of slick passing and movement from all over the pitch. George Forbes riffled one home from 20 yards, Bushy had his magic hat on notching 6, Charlie (fox in the box) chipped in with 2, Adam Smith calmly drove one home from the edge of the box and Freddie Gibbens found the net twice.

Once again MOM was awarded to each player for the outstanding team performance.

Under 9 Panthers

The Under 9 Panthers put in a strong performance today, pushing on through the game all the way to the end. We tried some new tactics which everyone tried their best to take on - massive well done! Each week our passing improves, as does our communication.

A goal today from Henry - cracker! Everyone should be proud of themselves today! POTW was Stephen for his excellent work rate and positivity on the pitch. Well done Panthers!

Under 10 Tigers

Very impressive team-first performance from the boys today. Focusing on our defensively responsibilities and targeting a clean sheet, everybody worked hard and contributed to us achieving that. Multiple goals from Kristof Hollosy and Louis Howard saw us demonstrate how lethal we can be at the other end too, with some superb football being played.

MOTM today was GK Jack Binns who, combined with the efforts from the others players, kept that clean sheet and denied denied Littleton any chance at goal today.

Under 10 Royals

Played a very tough game today against a good team and the boys well and truly matched them all over the pitch.

A fantastic goal from Kieran in our own half, with some good shots from else were unlucky not to go in.

MOTM today was Jack who played a good game up front causing trouble for their defence all game.

Under 11 Panthers

The Under 11 Panthers put in a really powerful performance today, showing some amazing teamwork and resilience. Some phenomenal passages of play, fantastic runs and immense tackles.

A massive improvement each week so a big well done. Goals today from Ethan C (x4). MOTM was Ben for his outstanding contribution today, great passes, runs and composure. Well done lads!

Under 11 Spitfires

U11 Spitfires continued their fantastic form and performance in very hard fought win against Bitterne Terriers winning 2-1.

Great effort displayed by all the boys and worked hard as a team from front to back. Goals scored by Oliver Drew & George Polkinghorne.

POM went to Charlie Maguire for some excellent vision and passing but also solid breaking up the opponents attacks.

Under 13 Wolves

A fairly comfortable performance today. The boys started very strong dominating the game with 2 great goals from Toby holden before a slip of concentration saw the visitor's get a goal back.

Boys had to re focus and get the game back under control, as the boys re grouped we saw another great team performance with Leyton Reed neting his hat trick and finally Toby netted another for his. Very worthy winners with the final score ending 6-2.

Great 3 points and the boys keep grinding out the wins they need and deserve for all their hard work this last year.

MOTM went to Toby Holden, a fantastic performance from him today as his confidence grows and grows.

Well done Wolves!

Under 13 Royals

Tough game for the Royals today. We lost 5-3 with goals from Harry Noel, Daniel Wrycraft and Ollie Brading.

We played some really good team football in spite of how the team were playing against us but their attack proved too much in the end. We had some players playing outside of their normal positions and everyone put in a great shift.

Player of the Match was Rex Downie for his outstanding performance in goal.

Under 13 Panthers

U13 Panthers eased past Oakwood saints with a 7-1 victory. The boys did start slowly and conceded first, but quickly hit back with two superb goals from Brad Chirima. The boys didn’t let up and scored three more before half time.

The second half allowed for rotations of positions and the boys put together some excellent passages of play, eventually adding two more goals, with the game finishing 7-1.

Goal scorers were Brad Chirima (x2), Will Hosmer (x2), Kunashe Musonza, Sam Marcade and Jim Gibbons. Brad was voted man of the match for the second weekend running.

Under 14 Spitfires

U14 Spitfires got back to winning ways after a couple of below par performances beating Wyvern Wolves 7-2.

The attitude and determination by every single player today was evident in a very physical game but the boys kept their heads and got on with playing our football and got the result they deserved!

Goals scored by Taylor Waters (4), Harry Cull (2) in only his second game for us and Jack Polkinghorne (1). POM went to Harry Cull who was excellent and took his goals well.

Under 14 United

Under 14s United took on a very resilient Oakwood side today knowing if they win they will be crowned div 2 champions with two games to spare.

With the boys wanting to keep there unbeaten run going and taking the crown they ran out 5-1 winners with goals coming from Stan p, Frazer m and a hatrick from George s. A superb performance again today as they have all season up the purps!

Under 15 Hawks

U15 Hawks won 5-2 away at Oakwood. Goals from Charlie Hawes (2), Kyle Podolanski, Tarun Takhar & Ben Cartwright. MotM - Tom Killick.

Under 15 Galaxy

A moral boosting win for Galaxy this afternoon as they ran out 9-0 victors away to Botley village. whilst a clean sheet was most welcome what was more important was the discipline shown as the team maintained their shape.

The goalscorers were: Tom Clarke, Reece Miller, Ollie Lucy and a hatrick each for Keiran Kandiah and Ryan Dennis.

Under 18’s

Won vs Brockenhurst 6-1 with goals from
Gilpin x2, Ngombi, Godfrey, Dummett
and OG. Some unbelievable goals from range.

Saturday Update - 1st May 2021

Under 7 United

We played against a Pace side who have lost one game this season but I have to say every single United player gave there all and played some superb football during the match and worked hard until the final kick of the game.

A goal a piece from Alex and Alfie with some lovely composed finishing. Purp of the match was Alex for good listening, tackling and grabbing a nicely taken goal. The game ended 6-2 to Pace Pumas

Under 7 Panthers

On paper, this should have been our toughest game so far, since we drew with them earlier in the season 4-4. But from the moment the ref blew his whistle, the boys gave everything.

Oliver started like a man possessed all over the pitch and was unlucky not to score in the first 10 secs. James was solid at the back as usual. Lucas pulled off some great saves in goal. Alessandro & Aryan again continued to get stuck in and was both unlucky not to score.

Harry produced some good skill with a run down the line and set up a goal with a great pass, and was also unlucky not to score. Jenson again scored 6 goals, and was all over the pitch with his running and tackling.

But my man of the match was Ollie, even though he is known for shooting and scoring which he did score 2 goals, but what pleased me most today was his defending and tackling. Well done Ollie. It just shows how far we have come from that first match. One very proud manager.

Under 7 Spitfires

Tough game today for the U8 Spitfires against a very strong opponent in Oakwood. The boys worked extremely hard out of possession never giving up and as the game progressed they began to grow and offer more of a threat going forward culminating in winning the final quarter of the game.

Spitfires learned a lot from today’s game and this will make us stronger going forward. Special mention to Brody Hibberd for his Hat-trick but also for his tireless chasing of the opposition and willingness to get into good positions in the final third. For this he was awarded Player of the day.

Under 7 Jaguars

Boys played well today against a very strong Winchester side. Had a few chances which we couldnt take and Winchester made sure they took there's.
Goalscorer: Sam Purchase. POTD: Jesse Egerton for some very good tackles and work rate throughout.

Under 7 Wolves

We knew that this was a tough game and that they play good football. After a slow start and being punished in that moment up stepped a player with a superb attitude and took it upon himself to showcase his talents.

Reggie aka Reginaldo did the magic twice to get ahead in the game. Then Caleb and Harry also followed suit. We then as a team took more control of the game. It was a good footballing game to watch and we were able to see out the game well.

The team should be proud of themselves.
MOM went to 2 players for some outstanding performances. Caleb and Reggie well done!

Under 10 Girls

Today we played a double header (2 games) against Southbrook.

In the first game we lost 1-0 and it was a hard fought battle for both teams end to end throughout.

The second match is when the panthers sprung to life and quickly established a 2-0 lead with Lucy & Erin scoring their first goals for the team. (Both from never giving up as a team) then after the interval Layla drove from midfield all the way to goal taking them on and slotting home the third.

The match finished 3-0 to the panthers who played fantastically as a team but credit to today’s opposition who also played great football making it a thoroughly good game and morning out for all.

Oppositions player the of the match was Meme and Managers player of the match was Lucy. Again, special mention to Southbrook who were great opposition.

Under 11 Girls

Goals today from; Lou (2), Maisy, Freya, Sasha, Olivia and Lacey (2).

Great to see them crosses going in from the wings and they led to a couple of the goals for us. Finished the game really strongly and used the whole pitch really well. Their GK was also having a great game and it could have been a lot more if not for her!

Opposition voted for lou as GOTG. 2 goals, 2 assists and very unlucky not to score the goal if the season, but for a great save onto the post!
Parents voted for freya, goal, assist, played several positions and did well in all of them. Such an intelligent player too!

Coaches voted for luciannie, who was a big reason we didnt and generally dont, concede much. Great positioning, awareness and composure all the time!
We all agreed at the end that it's getting harder each week to choose a GOTG.

They're all giving it their all, all the time and they all deserve huge credit! Big well done to them all!

Sunday Update - 11th April 2021

U8 Panthers had an excellent game today, showing that hard work in training really pays off!! A blistering display of attacking football led to goals from Harley S,Ethan, Dexter and Rafferty. A solid performance from start to finish! Joint players of the day were Dexter for some heroics in goal, and Harley S for showing his goalscoring prowess. Well done Panthers.

Under 9 Panthers put in some great effort today, proving that they can be very resilient. An amazing first quarter and two good final quarters proved they have the ability and passion to play some great football. Some phenomenal spells and passages of play throughout! Goals from Henry (x2) and Eddie. POTW was Jamie for his fantastic improvement throughout the game. Well done Panthers!

Under 9 Spitfires continued their good run of play. We started sharply putting pressure on the opposition defence however we found ourselves going behind against the run of play. The boys remained calm and played their slick, flowing football. George Bushell and Charlie found the net 3 times each with Adam adding one. Solid team performance which was hard to single just one out for MOM, but George Bushell just edged it.

U10 Tigers Match Report:

AFC Stoneham U10 Tigers vs St. Francis U10 Rangers

We moved the ball well, dictated the pace, and were threatening every time in possession, creating chance after chance.

Despite our strength in possession we are still rebuilding our match fitness and that was evident today with our decision making and defensive errors creeping in later in the match.

All in all, another great weekend and successful Week 2 of our return to football, as we ramp back up. 5 different goal scorers today and many more chances. A special mention for Vinnie Hamstead who found the back of the net in a well deserved goal.

A classy touch from the St. Francis team and players today, who were full of praise for our team and commenting on how well we played.

U10 Jaguars

A tough game v JAM youth began with us going 1 goal ahead thanks to Daniel who bagged his first goal in purple. The second quarter Jaguars fell apart conceding three goals all within the 2nd quarter. During the last 2 quarters the Jaguars battled hard and should have scored on a few occasions. We managed to get a late goal due to a penalty which made the last 6-7 mins a bit more exciting.

U10 Panthers

had a great display today in a hard fought game this morning. Great battling display to overcome a very physical opposition. Eddie, Ablaye and Finn with the goals today. Joint players of the day were James and Thierno, for some excellent defensive displays. Well done Panthers!

U11 Spitfires

Fantastic performance from U11 Spitfires . Some excellent football played in a faultless performance. All goals were well taken and solid defending when required with some outstanding saves by Miles when needed at crucial times in the game. Goals scored by Harley Marjason 2, Harry Halligan & George Polkinghorne. POM was hard to decide so went to parents to vote and was shared between Harley Marjason & Miles Earnshaw. Really proud of all the boys today.

U11 Panthers

The Under 11 Panthers put in a strong performance against the Sharks this week. Both teams had great spells of play and created countless chances. Some fantastic passing and moving from the Panthers ensured a good performance. Goals from Ethan C (x3) and Ben. MOTM was Ethan C for his huge contribution this week. Well done lads!

U12 Panthers

The boys played well today after a 4 month absence and we came up against a battling Alresford Town side who never gave up.

We came out winners and had very bright spells of play through out the match especially in attack.

We created numerous chances and could have been more despite for some great goalkeeping & the cross bar in the way.

Goal scorers today - Billy 3, Caleb 3, Viktor 2, Arlo 1 & Josh 1.

Everyone contributed to a good overall performance but Mom - went to Luke for a fine performance in defence and his good distribution of the ball.

U13 Knights

U13 Knights first match back saw them narrowly lose 2-3 to unbeaten league leaders Eastleigh Tornadoes.

Having gone 1-0 down Adrian scored a stunning volley to equalise on 27 mins.

In the second half we went down another 2 goals before Elliot scored a penalty on 65 mins.

Joint MOM to Elliot & Oliver for marking the Tornadoes’ Centre Forward.

U13 Royals

U13 Royals won 3-1 today after being 1 nil down at half time. It was a game of two halves and all of the players battled brilliantly to come back and win the game. Harry Noel was player of the match for putting in 100% effort for the whole game and chasing every ball. Goals from Daniel Wycraft, Harry Noel, and Ollie Brading.

U14 Wolves 3 Salisbury White 3

A really decent performance from the group after the long layoff. A tad unlucky today having been 3-1 up not to take all three points against the current league leaders, although this has been a theme this season. Some great individual performances too.

U15 Galaxy

Despite being on top in the second half a late goal from the opposition put paid to a Galaxy comeback in their keenly contested match against Winsor United with the final score being 2-0. Stoneham dominated in terms of possession and played some decent football but just couldn't apply the final touch.

MoM today went to AJ Stitson with an excellent display.

U15 Hawks beat Winchester 5-0 with goals from Oli Spink, Charlie Hawes and a hattrick from motm Kyle Podolanski.

U16 Rovers

AFC Stoneham 3-2 Hamble

Goal scorers:

Oscar Perry

Danny Wise

Callum Ramage

At half time it was 1-1

U18 Panthers

U18 Panthers beat St Francis 2-1

Matt Millmore and Joe Hampton with the goals as the boys improved form continues.

AFC STONEHAM LADIES 5:1

DOWN GRANGE LADIES, first game back for all, a rusty lacklustre first half which saw Stoneham take the lead through A Buckingham on 5 minutes, an equaliser from Down Grange on the 25th minute to send the teams into half time level. With a tactical change at the break saw a much improved second half with four more goals coming from A Buckingham (51, 54) a correction to the 4th goal (81) which was scored by Marie C on the line after Abbie A hit the crossbar from a header and the fifth goal from Madi P (85). The quality second half performance by the ladies sealed the three points/ AFC STONEHAM DEV2:2 WIDBROOK UNITED RES, a tough first game back for our dev team away at league leaders Widbrook United Reserves. The purps found themselves 2 nil down, but showed real determination and character to come back up the M27 with a point with goals from Laura P and Katie S. UP THE PURPS!

Well done to all of our teams today and great to be back playing matches

Saturday Update - 10th April 2021

U7 Spitfires

A much improved performance all round from the Spitfires this week, the level of quality in passing and effort to win the ball back from the opposition had gone up a level from last week. This was helped by a good performance from Cody Walters in goal. On another day, with a bit more luck in front of goal the score line would’ve reflected the performance. Player of the day went to Henry Polkinghorne (pictured) for his quality at both ends of the pitch

U7 AFC Stoneham Jaguars

Boys tried really hard today against a good pace side. Great team effort and they never gave up. Player of the match was Sam Purchase for great work rate and individual performance.

U7 United

A tough match against a good St Francis side with the boys keeping going until the end. Some lovely goals, with good team link up play and passing. Goals scored by Tayo and Archie with a brace each. Purp of the match went to Harry W for a top corner save from a thunderbolt strike and he followed that up by stopping the rebounding going in as well. Everyone who witnessed the save jaws are still probably wide open! It was better than Gordon Banks save all those years ago!

(That might be stretching it ! )

U7 Panthers

I thought everyone played superb. From Harry in goal with some fine saves. James and Lucas at the back. James with his trademark thunder strike from outside the area and Lucas muscled his way though the field to score. Alessandro and Jacob with their great tackles in midfield. Olly provided good link up play setting up a couple of goals and scoring one himself. Oliver again all over the pitch tacking and shooting and got 2 goals today. Jenson was again on the goal trail with another 4 goals. However, my Man of the Match was Aaryan, his improvement since the start of the season has come on leaps and bounds and was also unlucky not to score. Also there was an own goal. Well done everyone, we just seem to get better and better each week. So proud of the boys.

U10 Girls

Girls won 5-3 with Amelie scoring 2, Millie, Ella & Tuula also scoring. Well done girls !!

U14 Girls

A superb win today for the U14 girls against KBS! Some excellent performances all round. Defence kept a clean sheet, and kept composure throughout the game. Midfielders and strikers were strong on the attack with some superb creative play. 5 goals coming from Darcey and 1 from Mia D. Congratulations to Elly Mai for oppositions player of the game.

AFC Stoneham 6

KBS 0

U15 Girls

A great 5-3 win for the girls today . Scorers; Hannah webb,Tash Glaspool and Victoria Johnson with a superb hat trick who also won player of the match .

Sunday Update - 4th April 2021

Following on from the return of our "baby purps" yesterday many of our teams also returned to play today.

The Under 8 Panthers had a hard fought game today. They recovered from what can only be described as post lockdown rustiness to fight their way back in to the game. Ethan, Dexter, Carter, Rafferty and Harley M with the goals today. Ethan was player of the day for getting us back in to it and for his constant running and battling. Well done Panthers. Great to be back and to see the smiles on their faces.

The Under 9 Panthers put in a brilliant performance on their first game back. Some brilliant passing and moving, as well as exceptional communication. Goals from Eddie and Millie were all fantastic. A massive well done to everyone! POTM was Eddie for his amazing runs and goals. Happy Easter!

Under 9 Spitfires kicked off the year in the same fashion as they finished 2021. The mix of great team play, togetherness, slick passing and smiles made the perfect recipe for today’s return. Josh “the cat” kept a clean sheet with George Bushell hitting a brace and Adam Smith chipping in with a goal. Great team performance all round. George “Kante” Forbes was today’s MOTM. In addition Manager Jon...... discreetly mentioned his "top bins goal" on his AFC Stoneham Veterans debut yesterday in a scintillating 5-5 v Colden Common ! ("Surely Jon’s too young to be playing Veterans football ?" we hear you ask!)

Under 9 Royals - A memorable victory for the Royals today as we won the game in some style. A very entertaining game throughout. With sensational goals coming from Archie, Marcus, Harry, Tuula and Zain. We controlled the game like we hadn’t been away for 3 months and we showed real signs of progression and exceptional teamwork was the highlight. We bossed some very complex scenarios whilst staying very composed and professional. Everyone enjoyed the first game back and we are raring to go again next week

The Under 10 Panthers had a great return today against a well organised opposition. Ablaye, Jacob, Mason and Eddie with the goals today. A fantastic display showing little signs of fatigue following lockdown. Player of the day was Ablaye but a shoutout to every player today for showing skill and determination. Most importantly, good to be back playing again! Well done Panthers.

Under 10 Tigers - AFC Stoneham U10 Tigers vs Colden Common U10 Rangers. Despite the long break since our last match-day, the team got off to a fast start, finding the net early as the boys linked up well, created chance after chance, and moved ball like they hadn’t missed a beat. Match fitness came into play late on, with expected tired legs leading to some defensive frailties. Superb solo finishing from Colden Common’s forwards saw them threaten a comeback, in what was otherwise a quiet afternoon for AFC Stoneham GK Jack Binns, thanks to the patrolling Dominik Veal who was dominant as ever in our half. Goals from Kristof Hollosy (2), Miles Griffiths, Spencer Winter (3), and Louis Howard. All things considered, a very positive return for the team who loved being back on the pitch today. A big hurdle overcome and it’s back to business for this talented group.

The Under 10 Jaguars started slow conceding a goal in the second quarter. They showed great resilience equalising thanks to Owen in the second quarter. Goals followed from Robert and Freddie to make the game 3-1. We defended well in the second half of the game and conceded late to a southbrook counter attack. Overall a solid 3-2 win from the Jaguars. Motm performance from "the cat" in the sticks, Fin who kept us in the game when it was 0-1.

The Under 11 Panthers and Falcons had a friendly today on the new grass pitches:

Both teams were excited to be back at football and make a good start. A fantastic performance from both teams, as well as some great friendly competition. A massive well done to all involved! The Panthers put in a huge amount of effort and passion, which reflected in our stellar performance. MOTM was Joe for his excellent tackling and quick learning.

The Under 11 Spitfires finally got back playing today against our very own Falcons in a very friendly played friendly. Some excellent football played and Spitfires put in a faultless performance winning 6-0, although it was never about the result today it was all about the boys finally back playing again. Excellent goals scored from worldies to great team play goals. Scorers were Harley Marjason 2, Oliver Drew, Oliver Lawrence, Harry Halligan & Charlie Maguire. Credit to Falcons who never gave up and played some nice football and on another would have scored. Great advert for AFC Stoneham in the attitude by all the boys from both teams.

The Under 14 Spitfires got back playing after 4 months against Colden Common who play 4 leagues higher. A fantastic effort by all the boys and so proud of their effort today as played some great football with grit & determination. Sadly lost 6-2 but the result was irrelevant today as just about them back playing. Having said that so pleased with how they kept fighting throughout and looking forward to resuming the season. Goals were scored by Taylor Waters & Jack Polkinghorne.

Our U18 Panthers had an excellent 7-6 win over top of the table Follands Sports with Scorers: George Newbury, Joe Hampton x2, Matt Millmore, Tom Price x2 and Kamil Augustyn. MOTM: Joe Hampton Well done guys on a great win!

Happy Easter to everyone and fantastic to be able to report on some games again!

Saturday Update - 3rd April 2021

The Baby Purps are back playing!

Great to be reporting on the return of of our Under 7 teams playing matches and seeing loads of smiles again from both children, parents, managers and coaches.

The Under 7 Spitfires finally got back to playing after over 3 months and was never about the result today as all about seeing our little purps back on that pitch together. Some good performances by the boys with some exceptional saves from Cody Walters, Elliot Finch, Harvey Whyte & Theo Yaldren in goal. Elliott Finch also showed his talents at the other end with our solitary goal. POTM went to Elliott Finch for his all round performance.

First game back after lockdown and it was a derby - AFC Stoneham Wolves v AFC Stoneham United. After an early goal by Wolves, United fought hard to keep it at 1-0 with some great saves by Harry W. In the 2nd and 3rd quarter Wolves had the upper hand but goals from Archie and Tayo gave United a boost. An amazing goal from Harry K just over the half way line was a highlight. A well fought game by both sides and great to see them all back playing football again. Purp of the match for United: Harry K (Harry Kane?).

Under 7 Wolves - Firstly it was great to be back seeing the team with their beaming smiles looking forward to getting back at it. We were against another very strong AFC Stoneham team. There was beautiful play from both teams. Some fantastic team play from Chase put them on the back foot early. However Lucas was magnificent both as a GK and out on Pitch doing the business both ends of the pitch and was rewarded MOM from our team. Lastly I would like to give PETE LAWRENCE a special mention for the way he has taken on the new team and for the quality his team played. He conducted himself and his team with the highest quality. Was great for both teams to get back playing today wasn't just a victory for one team it was a victory for AFC STONEHAM as both teams were a joy to watch.

Under 7 Jaguars - First game back and it was like they hadnt been away. Some great passing and loads of effort. Close game but we took our chances. Goals from Charlie MaCallister And Sam Purchase. POTD - Mason Russell. Well played boys!

Under 7 Panthers - Well what a great game to restart football with. Thought the boys done really well. We started very slow and conceded after 20sec but the boys stuck to the job and were rewarded with their efforts. There were some great performances from all. Jacob pulled of some good saves in Goal. Lucas and James were solid at the back with some great defending. Oliver again was all over the pitch with his running and should have had a penalty. Alessandro and Aaryan done well with some good tackling, and Aaryan was unlucky not to score. Ollie and Jenson were the scorers today with 2 and 7 respectively. My man of the match was Jenson today purely for his goals, but I could have given it to anyone, as they were all great today. It was also nice just seeing them all out playing and enjoying it again. Great to be back!

Under 7 Hurricanes - The Hurricanes were ecstatic to be playing again, but started off a bit slow and trailing at half time. The second half performance was a completely different feel, we dominated most of the possession and finished on a high. Unfortunately we missed out at the end but a great spirited performance from the Hurricanes at the death and the game could have gone either way. Zachary was our POTM.

Well done to all six of our U7 teams today for playing great games. Today was not about winning or losing but about the children getting back to playing the game they love and putting smiles back on faces.

Well done everyone!

Under 9 Panthers

The Under 9 Panthers put in a stellar performance in their last game before Christmas. Some fantastic passing play, especially later in the game, exposing the opposition down the wings. POTW was Eddie for his excellent goals and work rate, especially in the final two quarters. Well done team! Merry Christmas from the Panthers!

Well done Panthers and a great way to end this part of the season!

Under 13 Panthers

The game was played in good spirit from both teams, and was a good opportunity for us to try some different formations and positions. Under 7 Wolves

We started much better today and kept the ball well. We made as a team really good decisions whether that was when to dribble or pass. The movement off the Ball was positive. Jaxon was exceptional, started in defence where he was solid and when played in midfield he was everywhere at the right time and thoroughly enjoyed his game. However, MOTM went to Harry for slick passes and he also added to his game by stepping up his work off the Ball. He was pivotal to how the team played today and also was his first game playing in goal for the final quarter. Well Done Harry and the Wolves. Happy Christmas to you all!

Under 7 Spitfires

The Under 7 Spitfires ended 2020 with an excellent performance which all the boys can be proud of. All the boys were deadly in front of goal and Harvey Whyte did something for the 1st time today. Some great defending when needed today after working on this training with some nice passing throughout. Hard to choose POTM today as all the boys played well but Alfie Bungay awarded it for a solid display.

Under 7 Panthers

We started strong again, with some quick fire goals. It was Harry’s first game of the season and he did very well. We have been working on pass and movement at training, and I was pleased to see this happening more each game. James did well in goal playing a ‘keeper sweeper’ role. Jenson and Ollie proved a threat up front. Lucas produced a great disciplined performance at the back when required and Oliver again gave energy all over the pitch. Aaryan and Alessandro showed great tackling. But my man of the match today was Jacob. His tackling, interceptions and running off the ball was great. Well done Jacob!

Under 7 Hurricanes

Today's match was brilliant from the outset. The players were on point straight from the get go, with a number of goals flying in within the first quarter. We then absorbed a large amount of pressure and showed some resolute defending. We had good performances from all over the pitch and it made it very difficult to choose a POTM, but today's POTM was given to Sam for some strong tackling and some great positional play. Overall a great result and some very happy players going into the Xmas break.

Under 7 United

A game that United never got going in with their usual quick passing. A learning curve for the players but a game played in good spirit and a entertaining for a neutral

Under 7 Jaguars

Boys played really well today, never giving up against a really good side. Had a few chances which Charlie McCallister aka Macca took and scored. POTD was Jesse Egerton with some great tackles in defence and 3 brilliant saves in goal.

Under 10 Girls Pumas

The Under 10 girls won 4-0 v Down Grange today with Millie scoring all 4! Abigail & Jasmine made some excellent saves and all the girls played very well!

A massive well done to all of our teams! Happy Christmas!
